BioIf one were to ask Rukia Kuchiki about her past, her stories would be completely void of those surrounding around any true ties to an actual family. Whether her parents are alive or dead, she would never be able to tell you – she once had a sister, but never had the chance to really know her. When she was only an infant, her sister abandoned her and left her to the hands of an orphanage, where Rukia spent several of her childhood years growing up. It was at the time she was nearing seven years-old that she found a legitimate home, when an elegant, raven-haired man arrived at the doors of the orphanage, demanding to adopt her with what seemed like an untainted resolve.
It wasn’t until later that she found out the man, Byakuya Kuchiki (a man of wealth, she came to learn), had been married to her sister and came to adopt Rukia as apart of her dying wish. Whether Byakuya had assumed guardianship out of sheer concern for Rukia’s well-being or just for the fulfillment of carrying out her late sister’s request, it didn’t change the fact that she grew up with him in content. She was now happy. In time, Rukia came to feel as though Byakuya was more of a family to her than anyone else in the world had ever been – and she was grateful to him.
Throughout high school, she tried to maintain a rather reserved and intimidating posture, but couldn’t seem to bottle away her mystifying air of magnetism and impeccable naïve sparks, much as she wished to adjust the latter. There were a few people she came to befriend during the course of her education, such as Ichigo Kurosaki, Orihime Inoue, and a small handful of other students spread throughout her classes, though she never became exceedingly close to any of those people in particular. And there was always Renji Abarai, a friend from childhood prior to her enrollment. Rukia is now attending Mishima University, majoring in Fine Arts.
